TOWNSEND BELL
An auto racing driver for AIM Vasser Sullivan in the 2019 GT Daytona Class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Townsend and American teammates Frankie Montecalvo and Aaron Telitz took ninth while completing 188 laps in a Lexus RC F GT3 Thursday through Sunday at Watkins Glen, New York. The 44-year-old, who lives near the top of Chautauqua and is also a motorsports commentator for NBC Sports’ IndyCar Series, joined AIM Vasser Sullivan in October and through five races his team has accumulated 42 points, good enough for seventh place out of 24 teams in the GTD standings. He and his team were third in Detroit, fifth in Mid-Ohio, ninth in Sebring and second at the 24 Hours of Daytona in January.
