While there might not be $1 billion at stake, admission to Palisades Charter High School would still feel like winning the lottery to some families. Applications to enter the Pali High lottery for the 2016-2017 school year are now available on the school’s website.
The lottery is open to students who do not reside in the Pali High residence boundaries or who don’t have a family member working at or attending the school. Graduates of Paul Revere Middle School and Paul Revere Magnet are also given priority. All other applicants are entered in the lottery.
The school estimates that there will be about 900 openings from ninth to 12th grade, with ninth grade accepting the majority. The lottery will be held on March 16 in Gilbert Hall at Pali High.
Assistant Principal Monica Iannessa said the school uses an outside contractor to conduct the random, computerized lottery. It is also open to the public but parents are not required to attend, Iannessa said.
Students accepted through the lottery have until mid-April to respond and accept the space. This process will continue until every seat is filled for the beginning of the year in the Fall. For more information and to access the application visit palihigh.org.
