A 42-year-old woman was arrested for misdemeanor DUI on Monday after a traffic accident on Palisades Drive at 5:05 p.m., according to L.A. West Traffic Detective Officer Elsdon. Speed was listed as a contributing factor. The driver, a Pacific Palisades resident, was driving uphill, past the stop sign at Vereda de la Montura, and took the curve too fast. She tried to correct by swerving to her right towards the Palisades Villas townhouses, about 100 yards below Palisades Court. However, her black 2007 Mercedes struck a parked 2011 Honda Pilot, in front of the entrance gate to the townhouses. The Pilot was knocked on its side across the sidewalk and the Mercedes jumped the curb and slammed into a low wall, setting off its airbags.   The driver was transported to a local hospital by Fire Station 23 paramedics and treated for complaints of pain.   ’Cars routinely speed up and down Palisades Drive above the light at Palisades Circle,’ said Palisades Villas resident Arthur Hoyle, who heard the crash and took the accompanying photos. ‘There’s never any traffic enforcement up here, in spite of numerous spectacular accidents resulting from speeding and several fatalities.   ’Our homeowners’ association president, Jeff Outcalt, told me that this is the fifth accident at this location since 2003,’ Hoyle continued. ‘A nearly identical accident several months ago destroyed two cars parked in the same location as the Honda Pilot.’   On another occasion several years ago, Hoyle said, a car went over the wall and the driver had to be airlifted by helicopter to UCLA Medical Center.’   ’The speed limit, once Palisades Drive enters the developed area from the open canyon, is 35 mph,’ Hoyle noted. ‘I don’t think anyone drives at this speed. People are driving at insane speeds up this stretch of Palisades Drive.’
