Mary Kinzelberg has been creating art since the age of 7—and now the 27-year Alphabet Streets resident is gearing up for a Pop-Up at Palisades Village in the Coast Lounge on Saturday, July 13.
“I’m very grateful to be able to express where I am right now in my arts and have other people share it,” Kinzelberg said ahead of the pop-up. “Hopefully they will see the truth in my painting and see that it’s coming from inside me.”
Kinzelberg described her pieces as very layered and colorful, using mixed media.
“I get a lot of my inspiration from traveling and other artists and how I feel when I’m painting it,” she explained. “I usually do abstract impressionism.”
She shared that some of the places that have inspired her the most are Cuba, Egypt, Colombia, India, Caribbean and Mediterranean countries, Israel, and Jordan.
Lately, Kinzelberg’s pieces have been on the larger side—at least four feet up to eight feet—but she keeps them affordable.
She works in an indoor and outdoor studio, depending on the weather, almost every single day, and is consistently taking new classes all over the place, including Palm Springs.
“I actually love doing it and I can’t wait to wake up and do it more,” Kinzelberg said. “It’s very difficult and frustrating but I absolutely love it.”
Each piece at the pop-up is an original, and guests will have a chance to win a commissioned painting by Kinzelberg.
The pop-up will take place from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 15225 Palisades Village Lane.
