I went to the YMCA’s Pumpkin Patch at Simon Meadows in Temescal Gateway Park and saw a lot of pumpkins. A pumpkin patch is where they sell pumpkins. The pumpkins at Temescal Canyon come from a farm.
The first thing I saw? The prize-winning pumpkins. They were very big – as big as a chair.
The maze was made out of straw with a lot of creepy things in it. The creepiest thing was the rubber bat with toilet paper knotted on to the wings. My sister went in the maze and pulled out a zombie hand – it freaked me out! There was also a yarn bomb, with all of the trees wrapped in yarn.
There were also pie pumpkins and little gourds at the pumpkin patch. The pie pumpkins are called pie pumpkins because they are really good for pie.
We got a perfect pumpkin for a jack-o-lantern. It was super round and had no bruises on it. It was very, very heavy. I picked it up and put it in the wagon, and then I rolled it to the cash register.
Our pumpkins were $31. My mom gave Oscar $41. He gave my mom $10 back.
