Writers, Artists and Musicians Series to Continue with Honorary Mayor Eugene Levy

The Pacific Palisades Library Association will host the second edition of its Writers, Artists and Musicians Series on Thursday, March 9, with Emmy- and Grammy-winning actor, producer, writer—and Honorary Mayor of Pacific Palisades—Eugene Levy.

“The star and co-creator of the comedy series ‘Schitt’s Creek,’ and the host and executive producer of ‘The Reluctant Traveler’ on Apple TV+, Levy is the latest artist to be featured in the new Writers, Artists and Musicians Series, which presents authors and creative professionals with ties to the Palisades,” according to information shared by PPLA.

PPLA, also known as Friends of the Palisades Library, kicked off the WAM Series on Thursday evening, December 1, 2022, with a one-hour conversation with longtime Palisadian Martin Short, an Emmy- and Tony-winning actor, comedian and author.

The conversation—moderated by Tim Schneider—covered a range of topics, including Short’s life in the Palisades and his time as honorary mayor of the town, his many decades in the industry, and his current projects.

“We are truly excited to continue our WAM Series with one of the most iconic artists in Hollywood,” said PPLA President Laura Schneider. “We have enjoyed the comedy and creativity of Eugene Levy from his earliest days with ‘SCTV’ and are especially proud of him for his civic mindedness in his current role as the honorary mayor of Pacific Palisades.”

The program, which is open to the public, will take place at Palisades Branch Library in the Community Room beginning at 7 p.m. Those who wish to attend in person must obtain a complimentary ticket by visiting the Friends of the Palisades Library website.

“Levy’s appearance at the Palisades Library comes following the record-breaking success of ‘Schitt’s Creek,’ which Levy co-created with his son, Daniel Levy,” according to PPLA. “One of the most groundbreaking comedy television series of the last decade, the show holds the distinction of winning the most Emmys in a single year—having received nine Emmy Awards for its sixth and final season in 2020.”

There will also be a livestream of the event, for those who are unable to secure one of the limited tickets that will be released, which will offer preferential seating for current members of the Friends of the Palisades Library.
