MILES PARTAIN
He is only 20 years old but Miles is a rising star on the pro beach volleyball circuit, as he demonstrated last weekend by advancing to the semifinals of the AVP Hermosa Open with partner Paul Lotman. They upset several of the top seeds and pushed eventual champions Theo Brunner and Chaim Schalk to the brink before falling, 13-21, 21-18, 12-15. Miles and his older brother Marcus signed up for a U12 CBVA tournament at Will Rogers State Beach when he was 10 and the rest is history. He played indoor for Pac 6 Volleyball Club and at Palisades High, leading the Dolphins to three City Section championships. Miles enjoyed a stellar sophomore season indoors at UCLA, being named 2022 MPSF Player of the Year, a first-team NVA/AVCA All-America selection and one of three finalists for the Lloy Ball Award as the nation’s top setter. On the sand, he was chosen 2019 AVP Rookie of the Year and 2021 AVP Best Defensive Player by Volleyballmag.com. Miles was 15 when he and is brother, then age 17, became the youngest duo to qualify for the main draw of an AVP event in 2017.
