Cathay Palisades
Oooooo, I am so angry! What Topa Management has done to a restaurant that has been part of this Village for 30+ years is an outrage! Just to tell the man his business doesn’t have the right look for their updated building is the height of rudeness and snobbery.
We are loosing our service businesses and given glitzy redundancy instead. Just look at what people said they’d like to see in the vacated Amazon Books’ space … a deli! Nothing more Hamish than that, right? We’re thinking something like Nate n’ Al’s, Fromins. A casual place for comfort food and party platters. But the chances of that are slim to none beneath luxury apartments going for $16K a month. Sigh …
What Cathay Palisades should do is get a big, shiny food truck … park it right on Antioch, and continue providing great Chinese take-out.
Palisades Village
Here we go again … more griping about “Palisades Village”! I’m a 30 year Palisadian and, sure, I miss the old bookstore (which closed due to lack of support as did a lot of shops due to warring landlords). I loved Bentons, Mayberry and Maison Giraud on Swarthmore. However, the majority of Caruso’s Palisades Village was formerly a PARKING LOT! Even if I rarely frequent the shops, I like having restaurants, great ice cream and a lawn instead of asphalt. Not to mention a movie theatre. So let’s get real! This was becoming a closed town. Now it’s vibrant.
Amazon Books
Bummer about Amazon store—Put in a Dunkin’ Donuts!!!
Amazon Books II
I’m still mad about Amazon Books closing. We have so many high-end restaurants and all of the retail stores at the Village are expensive and boujee. It was nice to have something normal. Hopefully Caruso is taking a look at this feedback for when he chooses a new store to take its place.
Columnists
Love the columnists in the Post! There’s so much range and variety: Ecological from the Green Tip, health and wellness from Damon Raskin and Ben Adel, behavioral/developmental from Betsy Brown Braun, and just a nice, feel-good read from Jimmy Dunne. Love it!
