St. Matthew’s provides a challenging and traditional academic program in a nurturing and inspiring environment.
Service Learning in a values-based education is emphasized, and students of all faith backgrounds are welcome. The school’s motto—Serve • Lead • Flourish—states our desire to have every student be a person who serves others, both within the school and the larger community.
Each day is filled with creative and innovative opportunities to discover and learn in three state-of-the-art makerspaces, light-filled art studios and a 15,000-item library. Versatile outdoor spaces, a spacious gym and large grass field, and a pool accommodate our interscholastic athletic teams and provide incredible places for students to play.
The Early Childhood program introduces students to the world of learning using creativity and instructive play. Lower School emphasizes literacy through a student-centered curriculum while specialty teachers provide instruction in science, technology, library, music, art and PE.
As students progress to Middle School (grades five through eight), subjects become departmentalized, with additional specialists for foreign languages (Latin and Spanish) and a variety of electives.
In our Project & Idea Realization Lab (PIRL) and our Lower School makerspace, students create and collaborate with classmates and teachers to weave 3D printing, robotics, woodworking, coding and digital fabrication into the learning process.
In grades six through eight, students participate in cross-curricular programs: Sixth-graders study the importance of water throughout history and tackle today’s current water issues through Project Quest; seventh-graders delve into Elizabethan culture and literature with Shakespeare, Theater, Arts & the Renaissance (STAR); and our eighth-graders explore the STEM of SCUBA, learn to dive, and create science and engineering projects in the Diving Education Enrichment Program (DEEP).
Although applications are accepted at all grades, our primary entry points are preschool and grades five, six and seven. Visit us at admission.stmatthewsschool.com.
If you are interested in a pre-preschool program, we encourage you to consider our newest auxiliary program, Little Falcons. Little Falcons is a morning drop-off program for older toddlers (2.5 years) that runs Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. For more information about Little Falcons, visit littlefalcons.stmatthewsschool.com or email littlefalcons@stmatthewsschool.com.
