What I love about the 4th is the way it brings people together. When we first opened our office in the village, our agents got together to construct a float for the parade. The 4th is a great time for friends and family to celebrate this great nation. This photo from 20 years ago, which features my daughter along with some of her friends on our prize-winning float, reminds me how special the 4th is to Palisadians and Americans everywhere.

I moved to the Palisades as a single guy at 26 because I saw the Palisades 4th of July Parade—and knew I found the town I wanted to be my home. It’s only bettered with time. Palisades is a town full of heart—and with caring, happy, inspiring Palisadians. Lucky, lucky us.

The 4th of July holds the best memories for me. My husband and I were married on the fifth of July and my best memory came in 2017 when my son came two weeks early and surprised us a day before the 4th of July. I am pretty sure he didn’t want to miss the giant celebration!

About 20 years ago we had a rented giant inflatable eagle for a float for the parade, and a few agents from our office were walking alongside it and when we got to Toyopa, we realized we had to deflate it in order to fit under the power lines since it was so tall, so the last section of the parade route, the eagle was half-deflated and sloped over.

My favorite memories of the 4th of July include the always exciting skydivers and their amazing ability to nail landings! Also the wonderful community spirit that comes together during that well-organized several hours.
