Two Corpus Christi School eighth-graders have been recognized by the Catholic Youth Organization for their outstanding athletic achievements throughout the 2017-18 school year.
Kerry Keefe, who will start her freshman year at Marymount High in the fall, was named CYO Female Athlete of the Year after starring in volleyball, basketball and soccer at Corpus, where she made the All-CYO first team in both volleyball and basketball. She is the first Corpus Christi athlete ever to receive the organization’s Athlete of the Year honor. The CYO is comprised of more than 10,000 athletes from over over 160 schools in the greater Los Angeles area.

 Â
Keefe, who lives off El Medio, was also named Corpus Christi’s Female Athlete of the Year and was valedictorian of her class, graduating with a 4.0 GPA. She also plays setter and opposite for Sunshine Volleyball Club’s 15 Westside squad.   Â
Also garnering accolades was classmate Jakob Brown, who won the All-CYO Flag Football Player Award and was Corpus Christi’s Male Athlete of the Year and flag football MVP. A quarterback heading to Palisades High in the fall, Brown also played basketball and soccer at Corpus, earning the school’s Coaches Award in soccer. He lives in the Alphabet Streets.
