After earning a piece of the Western League crown and reaching the quarterfinals of the City Section Division I playoffs last fall, expectations are great for the Palisades High football team, especially with the return of offensive lineman Syr Riley and the addition of Baraka Beckett, a senior transfer from Windward.
Riley was recently named offensive line MVP and Beckett was named defensive line MVP at the Boise State Camp.
Riley, the Western League Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2016, has received Division I offers from Cal, Idaho, Hawaii, Washington State, Navy and Colorado State.
In nine games for Windward last season, Beckett made a team-best 83 tackles (40 solo, 43 assisted) with five sacks and three pass deflections. He has received Division I offers from the University of Idaho, Hawaii, UC Davis, UNLV, Cornell and Columbia.
