The Women’s All-American Tennis Championships, one of the ITA’s most prestigious events, will once again be played at Riviera Tennis Club in October.
Over 120 players from more than 40 Division I colleges and universities compete in the annual tournament, which began in 1983 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and has been played at Riviera since 1988. The level of competition is comparable to that of the NCAA Championships.
The event is sponsored by corporations as well as club members, many of whom house players for the week. Prequalifying is Oct. 1-2, qualifying rounds are Oct. 4-5 and the main draws in singles and doubles run October 6-9.
Since 2012, the semifinals and finals have been played on the upper courts.
Danielle Collins from the University of Virginia won the singles title last year while Cal’s Maegan Manasse and Denise Starr won the doubles title.
