Kids can start off their Fourth of July festivities this year by entering the 20th annual Kids’ Fun Run. Held in conjunction with the Palisades-Will Rogers 5/10K Run, the Kids’ Fun Run starts at 9:30 a.m. and is open to all children 10 years old and under.
Kids can run or walk the flat half-mile loop that starts and finishes at the entrance to the Palisades Recreation Center parking lot on Alma Real Drive.
Pre-registration is $25 for the Kids’ Fun Run and $30 for late or day-of registration. Entry forms are currently available online (visit palisades10k.com or at Bentons Sports Shop on Swarthmore Avenue.
Although credit cards will be accepted for the 5/10K races on July 4, participants registering for the Kids’ Fun Run that day must pay by cash or check only. All kids, whether pre-registered or registering on July 4, must check in at the Kids’ Fun Run tent located on the grass near the park entrance.
Parents are required to sign each child’s registration form. Participants in the Kids’ Fun Run will receive t-shirts before the race and afterwards will get participation ribbons and American flags.
A clown will be on hand before the run for entertainment, as well as face painting and balloon animals afterwards.
