Senior sprinter Chase Cobbs continues to burn up the track for Palisades High. He won the varsity 100-meter dash in 11.08 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 22.03 at last Thursday’s Western League prelims at Fairfax High.
Raynard Beckham also qualified for today’s finals in both events, finishing sixth in the 100 in 11.82 and runner-up in the 200 in 23.20. Kaelynn Lamothe was fourth in the 200 (23.35) and Aaron Cromwell was eighth in both the 100 (12.03) and 200 (23.64).
Makhai Husband was second in the 400 in 51.03 and Doug McGhee qualified sixth in 52.87. Shane Brouwer was second in the 800 in 4:36.07, Ben Hamer was third in 4:39.91, Jakob Pollack was fourth in 4:40.48, Connor Smith was ninth in 5:01.40 and Will Taylor was 10th in 5:03.00.
Christian Fong was fourth in the 110 hurdles in 19.30, Marco Ruiz (20.55) was sixth and Jonathan Tafolla was eighth (21.07). In the 300 hurdles, Ruiz (47.50) was fifth and Fong (47.73) sixth.
For the varsity girls, Kendal Lake was second in the 100 in 13.31 and Erika Agege was fifth in 13.52. Jessica Agege won the 200 in 26.54, Lake was second in 26.60 and Erika Agege was third in 26.74.
Jessica Agege won the 400 in 59.58 and Kiana Billot qualified seventh in 1:04.37. Whitney Yost took first in the 100 hurdles in 17.64.
Marissa Williams won the 800 in 2:22.26, followed by Nicole Figueroa (2:26.09), Elizabeth Goodman (2:34.35) and Hannah de Silva (2:35.23). Billot was eighth in 2:40.79.
The Dolphins swept the top five spots in the 1,600. Williams (5:06.36) led the way, followed by Natalie Marsh (5:37.95), de Silva (5:45.76), Emma Ulfvengren (5:48.25) and Shannon Lee (5:48.75).
