Palisades High’s varsity softball team committed eight errors during Tuesday’s intersectional game against Culver City at Veteran’s Park and the final result was predictable: a 6-2 loss that dropped the Dolphins to 1-3.
Freshman Talia Hunter pitched all six innings with two strikeouts and added two hits with one RBI, Monika Swanson had one hit and one RBI and Daisy Jones and Jenny Talbot each added one hit for the Dolphins. The game was scoreless until the fifth when the host Centaurs exploded for four runs.
The Dolphins notched their first win of the season — and the first under new coach Tori Dario — with a 7-2 victory over Reseda on Saturday morning in their opening game of the Lincoln Classic.
Jones had three hits, Calia Hunter had two hits, Swanson had one hit and two RBIs, Jones tripled and Sasha Vanley had a single, a home run and three RBIs as Palisades scored four runs in the top of the first inning to take command.
Paulette Ely pitched a two-hitter with four strikeouts and three walks. That afternoon the Dolphins lost to Sierra Canyon of Chatsworth 5-3. Vanley had an RBI double and Talia Hunter had two hits.
Palisades resumes Lincoln Classic play with games against King Drew at 9 a.m. and Santa Clara at 12:30 p.m. this Saturday at Garvey Park in Rosemead. After that, the Dolphins get a 10-day rest before opening the Western League on March 20 against LACES at Stadium by the Sea.
