Pitcher Jed Moscot continued his mastery on the mound Thursday. The result? Another win.
Palisades High‘s senior ace right-hander allowed just two hits with no walks, no runs and eight strikeouts and the Dolphins pounded out nine hits in a 10-1 road victory that completed a two-game sweep of Western League rival Fairfax.
Leo Bucksbaum had two hits and pitched the sixth inning and his brother Will Bucksbaum retired the Lions in order in the seventh.
Moscot improved his impressive totals to three runs allowed (two earned) with 40 strikeouts in 33 innings pitched this season.
“He’s been nails for us,” Coach Mike Voelkel said. “I haven’t seen anybody better this season.”
Next week, the Dolphins travel south for the San Diego Lions Tournament. They open Premier Division play Monday against Chula Vista Eastlake, followed by games versus Ramona on Tuesday and Lakeside El Capitan on Wednesday.
Palisades resumes Western League play April 14 against Westchester.
On Monday Palisades beat the Lions 15-0 in five innings at George Robert Field.
Cameron Schiffer led the way, going three-for-three with three RBIs. Harrison Hart hit two doubles, Aidan Wirshing had two hits and two RBIs and Charlie Carr threw a one-hitter with seven strikeouts.
“It felt good to get through the fifth inning,” Carr said. “I kept pounding the fastball because they weren’t hitting it. Whenever you pitch you want to finish the game. If you get in trouble you want to get out of trouble. In games like this it’s important to make sure we do the little things like hustling back to bases and sprinting to first base.”
