
Palisadian Jake Feldmann, a senior at Palisades High School, took fourth on the vault and the parallel bars as the U.S. Men’s Junior team took the silver medal at the Maccabiah Games in Tel Aviv, Israel, last week. Israel won gold.
Feldmann also competed in the pommel horse, rings, bar and floor events. He was not the only community member representing Kehillat Israel, however.
Meanwhile, PaliHi freshman Spencer Howard started every game at center back for the junior boys soccer team as they came in fourth place. They fell to Brazil on Sunday in the semifinals, 3-0.
Wilimovsky 14th in Barcelona 25K Swim
Palisadian Jordan Wilimovsky, a sophomore swimmer at Northwestern University and former Malibu High School standout, competed for the U.S. National Team at the FINA World Championships in Barcelona, Spain, finishing 14th out of 35 in the 25K open water event.
Wilimovsky, who swims for Team Santa Monica Swim Club, was seeded 22nd. He needed 4:49.11 to complete his swim, just 1:44 behind victor Thomas Lurz of Germany.
Upon returning from Spain, Wilimovsky will participate in USA Swimming’s U.S. Open in Irvine this week.
TSM Swimmers Compete In Junior Olympics
Seven Palisadians were highly successful swimming for Team Santa Monica in the five-day Southern California Junior Olympics last weekend in Thousand Oaks, led by 10-year-old Grant Caverly’s five medals.
Caverly placed first in the 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle and 50-yard backstroke, second in the 200-yard individual medley and third in the 50-yard freestyle. His older sister, Gillian (13), was fifth in the 200 back, ninth in the 400 IM and 11th in the 800 free.
Emily Guy (10) finished fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke and eighth in the 50-yard breaststroke, while Hunter Loncar (14) placed third in the 400 IM and 200 free, fourth in the 400 free and seventh in the 200 breast. Katrina Mortenson (10) was first in the 50-yard butterfly and seventh in the 50 free.
J.P. Mortenson (14) was third in both the 100- and 200-yard backstroke, while PaliHi sophomore Sean Steele (15) was seventh in the 1,500-meter swim.
