Palisadian Will Bantle and partner Rob Mullahey tied for ninth place at last weekend’s FIVB Beach Volleyball U17 World Championships in Acapulco, Mexico. Bantle and Mullahey fell in the round of 16 to eventual bronze medalists Marc Darrieux and Timothee Platre of France, 21-18, 21-13, in 42 minutes.
Will’s brother Jackson is currently in Lanarca, Cyprus, with partner Branden Clemens of Harvard for the FIVB U21 World Championships, which began yesterday. The USA’s other duo is Palisadian Hagen Smith, son of beach volleyball great Sinjin Smith, and Christopher Orenic of USC. Bantle and Smith are indoor teammates at UCLA.
