The eighth annual softball fundraiser for k9 connection will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 29 at Cheviot Hills Park, 2551 Motor Ave., field number four. The entire family, including dogs, is welcome.
In addition to softball, there will be games for dogs, a taco bar, homemade desserts and a photo booth.
Palisadians Katherine Beattie and Pat Sinclair began k9 connection, a nonprofit project of OPCC, as a way to educate and inspire at-risk teens through bonding with and training shelter dogs. Each individual program serves counselor-referred teens at participating schools, and concludes with a graduation ceremony and the placement of each dog in a permanent home. The work then continues with monthly follow-up “check-ins” and student mentoring for all k9 connection graduates.
Register online at k9connection.org. Tickets are $25 for dog games and spectators, $100 for softball players (jersey and award included). All proceeds benefit at-risk teens and homeless shelter dogs.
