Palisades Charter High School is seeking nominations for its Board of Trustees through May 18. Six seats are open, with all terms lasting two years except the student- elected faculty seat, which is one year. The parent seat is voted on solely by parents. Nominees must be parents of a PaliHi student for their entire term, meaning they must currently have a ninth-, tenth- or eleventh-grader enrolled at the school. For the traveling parent seat, also voted on by parents, nominees need to live outside the area zoned for PaliHi. According to Charter and Corporations Code Section 5227, nominees for both the parent and traveling-parent seats cannot have been compensated by the school in any way in the last 12 months, whether as an employee or independent contractor, or have a relative who was compensated within 12 months. In addition to not receiving money from the school, per Section 5227, community seat nominees must live in the area served by PaliHi and must not become a PaliHi parent during their term. People with educational, legal, financial or fundraising experience are preferred, as are candidates familiar with the school. PaliHi personnel, students and parents vote for this position. PaliHi faculty is the sole voting bloc for the faculty seat, and students alone vote for the student-elected faculty. PaliHi administrators and managers elect the administrative seat.
