Pacific Palisades residents were awakened about 3 a.m. Tuesday by police sirens and helicopters. According to LAPD records, Abraham Prochacka, 28, was soon arrested near the back gate of the Getty Villa off Los Liones Drive for grand theft auto at 3:10 a.m. The male Caucasian was driving a stolen Prius near Culver Boulevard and Centinela Avenue, which led to a police pursuit. According to sources at the Pacific Division station, police first attempted a PIT (pursuit intervention technique), brushing the side of the car in an attempt to get it to spin out and stop. The attempt was unsuccessful and the chase continued to Pacific Palisades. The suspect tried to drive through the wrought iron gate at the back of the Getty property and when unsuccessful, jumped out of the car and led the officers on a short foot pursuit. Prochacka was captured with the use of force. He was booked with the felony, and is being held on $35,000 bail.
