
Pacific Palisades resident Charlie Porter was named Most Valuable Player of the Harvard-Westlake varsity football team at the annual football awards banquet on December 11. Charlie, a defensive back, was a team captain for the Wolverines and was named first-team All-League in the Mission League for the second straight year. He averaged 8.4 tackles per game in his senior season and also played some time at receiver, running back and punt returner.” Joining him with first-team All-League honors were Palisadians Chad Kanoff (quarterback) and Chris Sebastian (wide receiver), both juniors at Harvard-Westlake.’All three are graduates of St. Matthew’s Parish School.’ ‘ Porter is a three-sport athlete, playing soccer and volleyball in addition to football.’He was MVP, team captain and first-team All-League on the soccer team as a junior, and has just begun his senior season for the Wolverines. In addition, he plays for the Galaxy Banditz U19 Premier club soccer team coached by Rob Risley, a teacher and coach at St. Matthew’s. ’Charlie would love to play a sport in college and has been meeting with coaches at some great schools to see what options he might have in either football or soccer,’ said his mom, Katie. ‘He did not go early decision, so he is still deciding what will be best.’ Charlie’s older brother, Clark, Jr., was also the football MVP and team captain at Harvard-Westlake, and gained All-CIF honors. He played club volleyball at UC Berkeley for two years before joining the football team as a linebacker for the next two years. He will graduate in June with a degree in integrative biology.
