Fourth of July concert organizer Keith Turner is seeking high school students to help work the pre-fireworks concert that starts at 6 p.m. and stars Foo Fighter lead guitarist Chris Shiflett and his band The Dead Peasants.
Volunteers will receive a free T-shirt and be allowed to go back stage. Since there is a dire need for volunteers on this holiday, community service hours are available. Contact Turner: turnerlawapc.com.
Additional youth (ages 10 and older) are needed to carry banners in front of the bands, floats and various other entries in the parade. “If kids want to carry a banner with a friend or parent, we are happy to arrange that,” said PAPA People Coordinator Sylvia Boyd. “Sign up in advance, and then show up at the corner of Via de la Paz and Bowdoin at 1:30 p.m. on July 4.” Contacts: (310) 454-9556 or syljonboyd@gmail.com.
