It’s back to the drawing board for the Palisades High junior varsity football team after Friday afternoon’s 32-8 loss to Granada Hills at Stadium by the Sea.
Hoping to avenge their only defeat last season, the Dolphins scored first on a four-yard run by Max Palees and a two-point conversion by Darion Robinson, but it was all Highlanders after that. Granada Hills returned the ensuing kickoff to the Dolphins’ 30-yard line and quickly scored to pull within two points.
“We knew they were good and we stayed with them for a quarter and a half, but that pick six before the half gave them all the momentum,” Pali High Coach Ray Marsden said. “On the positive side, we put some new plays in and every one of them worked.”
Granada Hills went 9-1 last year, including a 28-8 home victory over Palisades, and the Highlanders have outscored their three opponents this season, 116-14.
“Special teams was brutal today and we turned it over three times to their zero,” Marsden said. “The good thing is we have nine practices before our next game, so I expect us to get better between now and then.”
