“Just one of those days.”
That’s how Palisades High baseball coach Mike Voelkel described Friday’s El Segundo Tournament game against Bishop Montgomery in Torrance.
The Dolphins committed six errors and were limited to three hits (one each by Remy Meteigner, Tyler Yeh and Matt Silvera) in an 8-0 defeat – their first of the season.
However, Voelkel was confident that his team would bounce back the next day against Pioneer and, sure enough, the Dolphins won 6-1 at George Robert Field behind five strong innings by pitcher Leo Bucksbaum.
Tyler Yeh got the save and went 2-for-3 at the plate with one RBI, Roben Seiling went 2-for-3, with a double, Henry Coquillard had a double and three RBIs and Justin Hirschberg went 2-for-2 with a double.
The game was tied 1-1 before the Dolphins exploded for four runs in the bottom of the fifth and added an insurance run in the sixth.
