Juniors Dane Elkins and Atossa Rejaei and sophomore Jared Anwar led Palisades High to 11th place in team competition at the National High School Racquetball Championships last weekend in Portland.
Elkins, ranked No. 2 in the USA in the 16s, reached the quarterfinals and placed seventh in boys singles and Rejaei lost in the girls white division singles final.
Elkins and Anwar partnered to take third place in the boys doubles consolation after a 15-9, 15-5 win.
Elkins and Rejaei, who are both sponsored by Ektelon, were third in the mixed doubles gold division. Elkins is ranked second in the USA.
Over the summer Elkins won the Boys 16s and 18s divisions at the World Outdoor Championships in Huntington Beach and Rejaei was the girls 16s singles champion and took third in the Boys 16s.
Meanwhile, Dane’s younger brother Cody Elkins (a 5th-grader at Kenter Canyon Elementary) went undefeated in round robin play to win last weekend’s Junior Open Division at the St. Valentine’s Massacre Tournament in Reseda.
Sister Madison Elkins (a 3rd-grader at Kenter Canyon) was fifth overall and first in the 10-and-under singles division. Their father Brett Elkins took fifth place in the men’s Pro Open division.
