Sometimes music speaks louder than words, an idea that will be showcased at an evening titled “Harmony Helps” featuring the Los Angeles Lawyers Philharmonic under the direction of Gary S. Green, Esq., taking place at UCLA’s Royce Hall at 7:30 p.m. on March 3.
The event will benefit various charities dedicated to helping homeless veterans, families and children.

Some charities that will be benefited include: The Salvation Army’s Westwood Transitional Village for homeless families; The Salvation Army’s Bessie and David Pregerson Child Development Center; and the GrowGood Urban Farm at The Salvation Army’s Bell Shelter.
The Child Development Center focuses on preparing children emotionally, physically and socially to enter kindergarten.
The center was created in honor of Bessie Pregerson, a young immigrant who worked as a union seamstress in Los Angeles and did everything in her power to have her children be well educated.
Bessie now shares the center’s name and honor with her great grandson and Palisadian David Pregerson, who was killed in a hit-and-run on Chautauqua Boulevard on Dec. 27, 2013.
The Pregerson family is further involved in the event by the GrowGood Urban Farm organization, created by David’s brother and Palisadian Brad Pregerson.
GrowGood is partnered with The Salvation Army’s Bell Shelter and has created a 1.5-acre working farm.
The farm, producing over a ton of produce in 2015, provides therapy and job training for the clients of the Bell Shelter.
David and Brad’s mother, Sharon Pregerson is also involved with the planning of the “Harmony Helps” event.
“I am humbled and privileged to be able to support the work being done to improve the lives of homeless veterans and families by The Salvation Army and GrowGood,” Sharon sad.
Palisadian Arthur Gilbert, who was profiled in the Feb. 4 issue of the Palisadian Post, also sometimes accompanies the event’s featured performers, the Los Angeles Lawyers Philharmonic.
Former honorary Pacific Palisades mayor Ed Asner will also be in attendance and will narrate “The Impossible Dream” during the event.
Harry Pregerson, Senior Judge of the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and grandfather of David and Brad, will also be in attendance as a special guest.
