Palisadians of all ages are invited to the 25th Annual Buerge Charity Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 4 at the Malibu Country Club, 901 Encinal Canyon Rd. The tournament’s proceeds benefit the Palisades-Malibu YMCA; registration is at 11 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 12 noon. This year, the tournament has an added twist and will include youth golfers, including parent-child teams and foursomes. Families are encouraged to join participants at the end of the day; at 4 p.m., YMCA staff will be on hand to offer fun golf-related activities for young children (10 and under), while a special menu will be offered for children. Longtime Palisadian Jim Buerge, chairman of the Palisades-Malibu YMCA board of managers (and vice president and general manager of the Buerge Motor Car Company in West L.A.) hosts the event every year and is proud to add the new family-fun aspect to this year’s tournament. ’The Buerge family has been actively involved in supporting the YMCA since the 1930s,’ he said. ‘My children are fourth-generation supporters of the Y. For that reason, this charity is especially dear to our hearts. ’In the spirit of the Y’s focus on youth development, we are excited to be welcoming youth participants and families to this year’s event. We can all golf together on a Saturday, have fun and support the good works of the YMCA.’ The tournament’s events also include best-ball and a scramble format. There will also be prizes awarded for longest drive, closest to the pin, most accurate drive and hole-in-one. The tournament costs $195 for adults and $150 for players under the age of 16; lunch, balls, green fees, golf cart, dinner and door prizes are included in that price. Dinner-only tickets can also be purchased: $40 for adults and $10 for kids. Space is limited; for more information, call (310) 454-5591 or visit www.ymcala.org/pm The Palisades-Malibu YMCA is strengthening the foundations of the local community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Thanks to generous donations from golfers and others throughout the year, everyone is welcome at the Y, regardless of ability to pay; financial assistance is available for those in need.
