When it comes to the 2022 Emmy Awards, there is no shortage of talented Palisadians who have been nominated.
In the Comedy Series category alone, there are three ties to Pacific Palisades: “Barry” (created and starring Marquez Knolls resident Bill Hader), “Curb Your Enthusiasm” (with Larry David creating and starring in it) and “Only Murders in the Building” (with former Honorary Mayor of Pacific Palisades Martin Short starring). The category is rounded out by “Abbott Elementary,” “Hacks,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Ted Lasso” and “What We Do in the Shadows.”
“Barry,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Only Murders in the Building” all earned nominations for Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series, with “Abbott Elementary,” “Hacks” and “Ted Lasso” also earning nominations.
“Barry” was nominated for Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series (Half-Hour).
Hader also picked up a nomination for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role of Barry Berkman in “Barry,” a category that also includes nominations for Steve Martin and Short for “Only Murders in the Building.”
“Congratulations to Bill Hader of ‘Barry’ on his [Emmy] nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series,” tweeted the HBO account.
In a crossover nomination, Hader was nominated for Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for an appearance in “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”
Hader, along with Alec Berg, were nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for the “710N” episode of “Barry.”
In the Limited Series category, “Dopesick,” starring Palisadian Michael Keaton, picked up a nomination. Keaton was nominated for Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for the role, and “Dopesick” was nominated for Outstanding Cinematography for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for its “Breakthrough Pain” episode.
For Lead Actress in a Drama Series, recently departed Palisadian Reese Witherspoon was nominated for her role in “The Morning Show.”
“Thank you to everyone in the [Television Academy] for the Emmy nomination for [‘The Morning Show’]!” Witherspoon tweeted. “I’m so honored to be acknowledged. Love this show and this team so much!”
The “Conan” series finale, led by Palisadian Conan O’Brien, was nominated for Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming.
Overall, “Succession” received the most nominations with 25, followed by “Ted Lasso” and “The White Lotus” with 20 apiece.
The 74th Emmy Awards will take place on September 12.
