The Post dined at a range of restaurants—from at home in Pacific Palisades to downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica and everywhere in between. Here are some of our favorite dishes from the year.

Staying local, the Post sampled dishes at Sunset Boulevard spot Il Piccolo Ritrovo. The Marra family hand-crafted their pizza oven using sand and ash from Mt. Vesuvio, then imported it from Naples to the Palisades to make dishes like Quattro Stagioni—served with artichoke hearts, prosciutto, olives and mushrooms.

Nestled in the Trancas Country Market just up the coast in Malibu is Kristy’s Village Cafe—owned and operated by husband and wife team Kristy Apana and Greg Bashant. With dishes like Salt and Pepper Calamari and a gluten-free Pasta Primavera, the Post dove into Kristy’s Prime Beef Burger, with prime beef, applewood smoked bacon, garlic aioli, maple onion jam and gruyere cheese, all served on a brioche bun.

Heading over to Santa Monica Canyon, Caffé Delfini has been a staple in the community for 29 years, owned by Gianpietro Silardi and Alessandro Ercoli, who hail from Pomezia and have been friends since childhood. When questioned about “signature” dishes, Ercoli explained that the Zinguini (a pasta alternative, with noodles made from shredded zucchini) dishes are a must-try.

Something sweet: Sweet Laurel: Cake, Coffee + Tea offers a selection of baked goods that are free of dairy, grains and refined sugar. The Palisades Village shop is run by childhood friends, Laurel Gallucci and Claire Thomas, who shared that their motto is “cake for breakfast.”
