Cinépolis Math
Let’s do the math about the ticket cost at the announced theater in the Palisades Village. The Arclight in Santa Monica is four miles away. I drive a Prius, which gets 40 MPG. So, it would cost about 70 cents in gas round trip. If I take my family of five to an evening show, I will also need to pay about $3 for parking. So, if I got to the local luxury theater instead, I will only now be paying $30 more rather than the $33.70.
Hopeless
For the individuals who find themselves in these unfortunate circumstances, they will only continue to be “hopeless” as long as they live in a community among people like you. May you never know how just the smallest of twists in life can lead to a similar predicament.
Frying Fish
When I think I’ve heard everything, I can still be surprised. I don’t think God is going to “never forgive the Post” for writing an article about the pastor who has left town under suspicion of misconduct, no matter how complicated the story may be. Certainly, with all that is going on in the world and this country, if you believe in that sort of thing you might consider that God has much bigger fish to fry.
Shameful Parenting
To the person who witnessed a woman leaving a baby strapped into a car seat in a white BMW on a warm day on Swarthmore, as she ran across Sunset to get her Starbucks returning in five minutes: You should have called 911 immediately, taken a picture of the baby in the car, the car, license plate and the woman when she returned with her coffee. Not only is that parenting fit for the “hall of shame” it’s also illegal. If you are too afraid to get involved in a meaningful way as a witness, then why bother to write to the Post after the fact?
Great Idea, But …
Thanks for alerting us to the availability of Mike Bonin’s new field deputy for the Palisades (“Introducing Lisa Cahill-Palisadians’ Direct Line to Mike Bonin,” June 22, Page 3). Great idea. But, if, as you article said, her job is to maintain “a healthy line of communication between the councilmember and his constituents … answer constituents’ questions, point them in the right direction and represent their unique concerns,” how could you not include any of her contact information? Poor execution.
Summary
To the 2Center who complained about how often everyone in the Post was writing about summer: Let me wrap it up for you. It’s here, it’s hot, it’s going to get hotter, dryer and dustier. Get used to it.
