If you combine end-of-summer good weather with an outdoor cinema experience, mix in some live music and delicious street food, and put it all together, that’s what Saturday’s evening event is all about.
On September 7, Street Food Cinema presents the 20th anniversary of “10 Things I Hate About You,” starring Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, at Will Rogers State Historic Park in Pacific Palisades.
Loosely based on Shakespeare’s “Taming of the Shrew,” this beloved teen flick still has appeal after all these years. The story is about a popular teen whose father won’t allow her to go on a date until her grouchy older sister has one, set in a Seattle high school.
Directed by Gil Junger, the supporting cast includes Andrew Keegan and Gabrielle Union.
The musical performance of the Street Food Cinema screening will be by Southern California-based band So Many Wizards. Originally started by Long Beach indie artist Nima Kazerouni, the band now includes drummer Erik Felix, a brief stint with bassist Warren Woodard, and upon his departure, the addition of LA musicians Geoff Geis and Melody Carillo.
All ticket sales must be purchased online, doors open at 6 p.m., live music at 6:30 p.m. and the PG-13 movie starts at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $15.
Food trucks featured for the event include Boba Ni Taco, Go Beyond the Bowl, Hungry Belly Thai, Frozen Fruit Co. and more.
