JIB
The proposed project at the former Jack in the Box site has been rejected by the Pacific Palisades Community Council and the Pacific Palisades Design Review Board. That does not mean the project is dead, even in its current form. It remains to be seen if the developer will prevail with Mike Bonin, the Department of City Planning, and the Coastal Commission, the real decision makers, by making large cash donations. It is not out of the question.
Fire
People hope LAFD Captain Erik Scott will consider this admittedly far-out idea for wildfire prevention in this area: let the fire department pretend there is a wildfire in the Santa Monica Mountains and inundate all dry areas with water twice a week. The cost of this prevention in lives and dollars will be a fraction of the cost of containment.

Love, love, love Betsy Brown Braun column. Her advice on parenting is so helpful. Thanks Post and more, please.
Socialism
Just for the record, the People’s Republic of China is not a socialist society. It is a one party state whose Communist regime runs a market based, capitalist economy. Socialism, as defined by prominent American socialists such as Norman Thomas and Michael Harrington, is a completely different animal.
Socialism II
Point of clarification: China, North Korea, and Cuba are communist countries. Socialist countries are numerous and include Denmark, Iceland, Ecuador and Sweden.
Banks & Nail Salons
Now that we have 3 yoga clothing stores at CarusoVille alone, it got me thinking about what this town needs more of. Banks and nail salons. Maybe Caruso can help?
Lion
Sad to hear that another mountain lion died crossing the freeway. Really looking forward to having a wildlife overpass built and functioning.
Drivers Ed
I saw a woman driving with her young daughter, turning right onto Sunset without using her signal. What sort of example are you setting for your daughter, who I assume will be joining us on the roads soon? Blinkers aren’t there for decoration, they are meant to be used!
