Marquez House
[In response to] “Important Matters” in the January 6 edition, the monster house at Marquez and Ida is being built by a serial spec-home builder. It is not a family’s dream home. Even if it was, their dream is abusing the neighborhood. I drove by after the project was shut down and saw the developer parked in the crosswalk at the corner, reviewing plans. What more needs to be said? Zoning laws are far too permissive, neighborhoods are being wrecked in the name of profits for those who milk the cash and move on. The tall privacy hedges along streets, especially Sunset, aren’t much better. When this house finally comes on the market, I will definitely make note of what “community oriented” realtor takes the listing.
Baby
Word on the street is, the editor-in-chief of this newspaper just had a baby boy! Congratulations Sarah! We are so grateful for your commitment to telling our stories here at the Palisades every week. Hope you enjoy your time off with your little one.
Centennial
Happy Birthday, Pacific Palisades! Such a gem, I’m grateful for this place every single day.
New Year
So grateful for the new year. Here’s to hoping 2022 brings happiness, good health, enduring connections, hopeful news and not to mention, a respite of breath to all of us.
Library
What a delight to see the library is finally open! It will be nice to be able to have a communal space again, to take a break from the busy world and for the kids to have a peaceful place to study after school. That, and nothing beats the scent of time in an old library book!
COVID
It’s so sad to see the effects of COVID, two years from when the pandemic started. Really missing “normal” times.
