After a recent controversy over the termination of former YMCA youth sports coordinator Rashad Rhodes led to community outrage, Beth MacAller has officially been transferred out of her current executive director position at the Palisades-Malibu branch effective on Nov. 23.
Kris Nakamura, YMCA Senior Vice President of Communications and Marketing, released a statement today that named Shelly Skaro as the new Interim Operations Executive beginning on Nov. 30.
Skaro will temporarily manage the Palisades-Malibu branch for the next six months while the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles searches for a new director.
In the statement, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President Marc Dengler said MacAller’s transfer is a response to community concerns after the reduction in their youth sports program on Oct. 21 was “wildly mischaracterized by some”.
MacAller will be transferring to the Pasadena branch where she will resume her duties as Executive Director.
