The Friends of Palisades Library’s annual creative writing competition tested local children’s literary gifts over the summer. But with prizes including Diesel Book Store certificates and free goodies at Sweet Rose Creamery, there were a wonderful array of answers to the challenge posed: How to dream the impossible dream, in poetry and prose.
The winners were judged in five age categories, from youngest to oldest, and performed by actors Bill Jones and Christine Kjudjian at a ceremony at the Palisades Branch Library on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
Starting next week and running for five weeks, the Palisadian-Post will be publishing the first-place entries to celebrate some of the greatest young writing of the year.
