Palisades Venom, an AYSO Extra U10 girls all-star soccer team, finished the season 10-1-1 and won the league championship last weekend, beating Culver City on two goals by Gable Gering and one each by Cate Childers and Georgia Miller, then beating Palos Verdes on three goals by Addison Moss, two each by Gering and Miller and one by Childers.
The defense was led by Eliza Sandifer, Eloise Shin and Camryn Rowles and goaies Julia Citron, Piper Forsyth and Tegan Branch. Coached by Craig Forsyth and John Childers, Venom will be the top seed at the Area P playoffs in January.
Also last weekend, nine Palisadians led Pacific Coast Soccer Club’s U14 White team to the SoCal Tournament of Champions title in Orange County. Palisades High’s Josh Barad earned the “golden boot” with six goals in the tournament.
Other local players include Taylor Strijdveen, Colton Peffer and Liam Conrad from Paul Revere Middle School, Campbell Collar and Zach Hausner from Brentwood School, Jake Lyon and Ben Clark from Crossroads School and George Gray from St Matthew’s.
The team edged FC Los Angeles on penalty kicks in the semifinals and shut out Irvine Strikers FC 2-0 in the championship game.
