Ride-sharing service Uber has partnered with Pacific Palisades-based nonprofit Crayon Collection, which was founded by local Sheila Morovati to collect gently used crayons from restaurants and hotels that would otherwise be thrown out and get them into schools.
Uber will provide free rides for teachers to pick up crayons that have been collected from participating restaurants within five miles of each school beginning in August.
“We are proud to partner with the Crayon Collection to support our local schools and the teachers who work so hard to support our youth and their families,” Uber’s Southwest General Manager Chris Ballard said.
