Such an adorable photo of the smiling girl who won the M&M cake (think there’s any left??), but you didn’t say her name (Isabella Kern)!
Advice
The employees at Elyse Walker are some of the most obnoxious people I have ever met. They glare at you when you walk in, they don’t offer to help you with anything, and here’s the latest example of just how rude they can be: I listened to an employee in the “casual store” loudly criticize women who wear workout pants but may not actually be working out. She did this while several women who fit that description were shopping in the store. This is not an unusual observation—this is the reputation the store has gained. I urge Elyse Walker to seriously reevaluate their staff if they want to continue doing business in the Palisades. There’s a lot of new stores opening in the Palisades and if they want any piece of that business perhaps they should spend some time explaining common courtesy to their employees.
‘Old’ Guard
Age has nothing to do with being excited about the village reopening, we are 53 and my mom is 80 years old, this “old” guard is thrilled with the Caruso Project. We love the look and the restaurants, stores and especially the movie theater returning to Swarthmore. Personally, I love the music at the Commons. So a big shout out “Thank you” to Caruso and his construction team as they have been polite and have created a beautiful place to gather.
Grumble
Regarding some of the posts on September 13, Grumble Grumble Grumble: The people that complain the loudest about the Caruso project will probably be among the first to do business there. I doubt that there will be any music playing but it would be a nice touch (would probably get the contributor out of his funk). Before I read the VIP article, I didn’t realize that I and my neighbors were more special than you are. Finally, I agree that the traffic problem and disruption has been a big pain. While the three-level parking structure should solve most of the parking problem, I believe that the traffic problem may be horrendous. If that part of the Palisades Village (I think that is the name and not Palisades Carusoville) were to be one way and Monument (on the backside of the village) were to be one way in the other direction, this may help the flow of traffic somewhat. So, lighten up people and remember what a piece of trash our downtown area was before Caruso got involved. I would have liked the finished product to duplicate a small England Village, but economics probably drove the final plan.
‘So Inconsiderate!’
Can’t wait for the Carusoville workers to GET OUT of here! Every morning when some of us have to drive to get to work, the workers either block off streets, have long conversations with each other from their cars while blocking the road, ignore stop signs and continuously stream into the lot so no one else can pass. Just because they are behind schedule, we should not have to suffer!
