Sidewalks
On many occasions, elderly couples must walk on the street rather than traverse Café Vida’s blocked sidewalk. Can the café’s patrons and their dogs recognize others’ difficulties? Thank you.
Not So Picture Perfect
It was dispiriting to see last week’s Postcard photo of a dozen Palisadian families on a Fijan island that another Palisadian had “rented.” While I bet the families had a good time, such an ostentatious display of wealth and privilege is ill advised at a time of unprecedented inequality, and when railing against coastal elites has provided cover for a corrosive political movement. Next time, please consider picturing a dozen Palisadian families giving back.
Apple
Has Caruso considered an Apple store for Palisades Village? That’s something that Palisadians would appreciate.
Raised Rents
Whoever owns the land occupied by Norris Hardware and Village Car Wash, not to speak of Pharmaca and Ralphs, apparently feels an urgent need to raise rents. Norris has been forced to close by July 31 and last week the car wash raised the basic job from $19.99 to $21.99, with the coupon. Is King Midas alive and well in the Palisades?
Guide
The most interesting part of the Post’s magazine was the cover.
Gentrification
Caruso is in. Norris Hardware is out, to be replaced by (?) a pilates studio. That says it all. We have been “gentrified.”
(Editor’s note: As the Post went to print, Westside Retail confirmed that no tenant has been named to replace Norris.)
