Pali High Tennis Wins Consolation Title at California Classic

Since her match was the last to finish, Palisades High junior Halsey Hulse had to go back on the court to play a 10-point tiebreaker to decide the outcome of Saturday afternoon’s consolation final of the California Classic at Point Loma.
Two days of pressure tennis boiled down to a few tense minutes and Hulse dug her way out of a 4-2 hole to prevail 10-7 and clinch the Dolphins’ victory over West Ranch after the teams tied 3-3 in matches, 6-6 in sets and 47-47 in games. Palisades avenged a 5-1 loss earlier in the season.
After falling 5-1 Friday in its tournament opener with Westlake the Dolphins rebounded to defeat Valencia by the same score, even with three starters sitting out. On Saturday morning, Palisades beat Rancho Bernardo 5-1 to set up a battle for ninth with West Ranch.
Iris Berman, Sarah Slavkin, Ciarra Kenney, Emma Akiyama, Noe Winter, Kalea Martin, Jade Finestone, Kalea Martin, Claudia Goore, Anaya Ayanbadejo, Nora Morlot and Sydney Gartin all contributed to Palisades’ 3-1 record.
