It was a beautiful night for the stars to shine when the Theatre Palisades Awards Dinner began under the summer sky last Sunday. Food was served on the Rotary Club Patio before the awards were presented to the shining stars of the local stage.
Vice President of Administration Eva Holberg began the evening by presenting aplaque honoring the late Tony La Monica and Dorothy Tunis, whose generous bequests made the much-needed building addition possible. These gifts enable the expansion of Theatre Palisades’ facilities to include storage of construction materials and props and space for music ensembles.
Next came everyone’s favorite, a song written and performed by Doug Green appropriately named “Doug’s Song,” which was a chuckle-full synopsis of each play of the season. Even the most stone-faced patron had to crack a smile at the song’s ingenuity. Interspersed among the awards were famous stage scenes performed by Theatre Palisades’ troupe, including “The Odd Couple,” “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf” and “Seven Year Itch.”
