A fourth consecutive Western League title is the goal for the Palisades High girls golf team this fall and leading the quest will be seniors Lillia Weissmuller, Mariana Paleno and Spencer Kellen.
Weissmuller, who has twice qualifed for the Southern California Regionals, was the Dolphins’ low scorer at City Finals last year and 13th overall at Balboa Golf Course, where the team took fifth.
Also returning will be Jammy Cho (who as a freshman last fall carded the program’s first-ever 89 at League Finals), fellow sophomore Sofia Canter and junior Selene Lam. Joining the team are freshmen Sierra Sugarman, Chloe Rahn and Mandana Sahmedini.
Coach James Paleno hopes his team can challenge for the City championship Oct. 31. Palisades’ first match is next Thursday versus Venice and Fairfax at Penmar.
“Our freshmen are outstanding, experienced and competitive golfers,” Paleno said. “We should be favored in league again.”
