Michael Vuong, the suspect in the hit-and-run that killed Palisadian David Pregerson, is scheduled for arraignment tomorrow, May 30, at the Airport Courthouse on La Cienega Blvd.
Following the May 1 arrest of Vuong, 66, of Palms, the Palisadian-Post discovered that the suspect’s wife Marguerite Vuong is a Palisades postal employee. The Post has also reported that a postal worker found Pregerson on the side of the street on Chautauqua in the early morning hours of Dec. 27 and alerted authorities.
Charles Hearne, the Pacific Palisades postmaster, spoke to the Post regarding the hit-and-run case.
“We want to send out condolences to the family,” Hearne said, noting that he has provided LAPD with all information that has been requested that detectives considered important to the investigation.
“It hurts us to talk of it at the station daily,” Hearne said. “We want this to come to a resolution.”
He added, “We want the truth to come out as bad as the family does.”
Hearne also said, “We want the Palisades community to understand that there may be a postal employee involved in this. We don’t condone that. Whether or not there’s a bad apple with an employee or with a postal employee’s family, it’s not indicative of us in the Palisades.”
As of May 20, Marguerite Vuong was still employed by the post office, according to Hearne who said that until judgment is rendered in court, no action will be taken with any postal employee who may be involved in the case.
According to Hearne, many of the tips that were sent to LAPD were provided by Palisades postal employees. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Det. John Skaggs at (213) 382-9470.
