It was a proud day for Palisadian Greg Willis, as he concluded a months-long project to plant a tree on Sunset Boulevard outside of Chase Bank.
Willis dedicated the tree, a 20-foot fern pine, to the Pacific Palisades Chamber of Commerce stalwart Arnie Wishnick for his many years of service to the community. Wishnick was on hand last week to see the tree’s installation—he even pitched in with the shovel.
The pine is a drought-resistant evergreen that will eventually grow to stand 60 feet tall and provide dense shade.
Willis excavated the rotting ficus tree that once stood at this location, applied for the proper city permits and had to have his new tree inspected before the happy “dirty work” could finally begin.
Willis accepts donations for this and other neighborhood beautification projects through his nonprofit Palisades Together.
His previous projects include refurbishing benches along Will Rogers State Beach and reducing tripping hazards in The Village by installing and repairing tree planters.
