The Palisadian-Post is running a selection of winning pieces from the 2020 Pacific Palisades Library Association’s Summer Creative Writing Contest, which featured the theme “Surprise Us!” The following piece was penned by Ella Kervin, who was awarded third place in the Scribblers category (grades one and two).
Once upon a time there was a purple fairy, a pink fairy, a yellow fairy, an orange fairy and a rainbow fairy. The fairies were planting flowers, four big bushes.
The evil Mr. Winters sent his snowflakes to freeze the flowers. The fairies were scared they would get frozen too.
One of the fairies, the rainbow fairy, was not scared. She used her magic to make a forcefield over the flowers and sent Mr. Winters to another world.
All the fairies of Fairyville celebrated and the rainbow fairy became the queen.
