Palisadians Sean Steele, an incoming sophomore at Palisades High, and current Northwestern University star Jordan Wilimovsky posted impressive stats at the Flowers Sea Swim in the Cayman Islands June 15-17, competing in a field of nearly 1,000 swimmers.
Steele swam in both a one-mile event and a 10K swim. The one-mile swim featured 900 swimmers, and Steele was 11th overall with a time of 18:35.99. In the 10K, Steele was ninth out of 30 swimmers with a time of 2:19:55.30.

In helping the PaliHi boys team win the City title this past season, Steele placed second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:49 at East L.A. College.
Meanwhile, Wilimovsky was second in both events in the Caymans, posting a one-mile time of 16:52.86 and a 10K time of 2:02:28.52. After graduating from Malibu High and entering Northwestern, Wilimovsky became the first Wildcat freshman since 2006 to qualify for the NCAA championships in an individual event.
He broke the school’s nine-year-old record in the mile at the Big 10 Championships at 15:03.07 to earn a berth in the NCAA meet, where he lowered the record to 14:58.80 to finish 24th overall.
