Post: Tell us a bit about the history of your camp—how long has it been around? Where is it based?
Sina Monjazeb: Sandy Days Kids Camp was founded in the summer of 2009. My personal background is in middle and high school PE and athletics. I was a high school athletic director for 19 years and taught middle school physical education prior to that.
Being a long-time resident of the Palisades and growing up on the beaches there, I wanted to create an experience for kids that was similar to what I had. An environment in which children can be free of the digital world and be fully present in the joy of the beach, connected with their friends and nature.
My own children were young at the time and so I decided to start my own camp. We are located at Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades, Lifeguard Tower 10.
