Palisadians Will and Rina Stein Aim to Help Improve Sleep Quality
By STEVE GALLUZZO | Sports Editor
Palisadian entrepreneurs Will and Rina Stein, owners of Philip Stein, have just introduced a new product that has both the jewelry and health industries abuzz with excitement.
It is called the Sleep Bracelet, and it is a natural sleep device designed to help wearers improve their sleep quality.
The Steins arrived in Los Angeles from Zurich, Switzerland, where they lived for 10 years. Initially, they rented an Airbnb for three months in the Hollywood Hills.
“When we came across Pacific Palisades during a weekend outing, we both fell immediately in love with this place,” Will shared. “We decided to rent a house for one year to get familiarized with the different areas and communities. Beginning of 2021, we found a house which was perfect for us and our needs.”
Rina and Will now reside on Via De La Paz—and said they “absolutely love” the community. He said that the Bluffs are a short walk one way, and the other way leads them to the Village.
“It is the perfect location for us,” Will shared. “We love going to the village and having a bite to eat on the terraces of the beautiful restaurants.”
On Sundays, the Steins can be found at the Pacific Palisades Farmers Market, sampling vegan and vegetarian offerings, as well as fresh produce and breads.
Will said he also enjoys hiking in the canyons with his dog, Red, or running on the beach.
When it comes to their latest creation, Sleep Bracelet works on the idea that the earth emits natural frequencies that can positively affect an individual’s well-being, and the Natural Frequency Technology embedded in these exclusive nighttime accessories harnesses and channels these frequencies to the body.
“Our proprietary Natural Frequency Technology works on a biomagnetic and biophysical level,” Will said. “We’re surrounded by frequencies. We’re frequency beings. Our brains, our heart, our entire body sends out frequencies all the time. The problem is that we’re also bombarded by human-made frequencies, which disrupt our natural rhythms. The blue light emitted by electronic devices is very similar to daylight, so when it’s 1 o’clock in the morning and we’re in front of the TV or scrolling through our smartphones, our body is likely to stop producing melatonin. We’re extending artificially or cheating our circadian rhythm.”
The Sleep Bracelet comes in three different models: Classic, Slim and Nano. Each one features a microfiber strap with perforated holes to let the skin breathe during the night. The Sleep Bracelet also affects the circadian rhythm, which helps control the sleep/wake cycle.
In a clinical study by the University of Jacksonville in 2019, 100% of participants reported improvement in at least one of the sleep quality measures and 86% reported a positive change in their sleep quality.
“It’s not uncommon to have trouble getting proper sleep,” added Will, who has allowed the self-funded business to grow organically. “According to the National Sleep Foundation, 35.2% of all adults in the United States report sleeping on average less than seven hours a night.”
Will is a marketing expert with a background in business while his wife, Rina, is a watch designer with 28 years of experience in the business. Together they have combined their diverse skill sets with a newly acquired knowledge of natural frequencies and the power they have to improve one’s overall health and well-being by developing a watch collection that promotes wellness while delivering unrivaled style.
The launch of Philip Stein’s watches marked the first time in history that frequency-based technology had been incorporated into a luxury watch brand. Within a short period of time, the company received endless testimonials: better sleep, less tension and improved concentration. One endorsement came in 2010 when Oprah Winfrey featured Philip Stein watches on her “Oprah’s Favorite Things” show.
As Philip Stein continues its research into this technology, Will and Rina remain committed to developing products that will enhance people’s quality of life.
From the beginning, Philip Stein aimed to fuse health and well-being with iconic luxury.
Dr. Michael Breus, a sleep specialist known as The Sleep Doctor, investigated the Sleep Bracelet and discovered that wearing them does not cause any secondary effects. In fact, he recommends them to his patients.
“It is built on the concept of a percussion instrument—as the frequency reverberates from the bracelet, the body instinctively aligns toward it, thus synchronizing sleep,” Breus explained. “Frequency is a waveform that is released from the Sleep Bracelet itself, similar to a sound wave. This makes the Sleep Bracelet a one-of-a-kind solution to naturally improve the quality of your sleep.”
The Sleep Bracelet is the latest in Philip Stein’s line of men’s and women’s watches, straps and bracelets. The company has a podcast and a blog on its website.
When it comes to living in the Palisades, the Steins shared they are very “happy and blessed” to call Pacific Palisades their home.
“The community and people here in Pacific Palisades are very special,” Will concluded. “They are open and interesting to talk to, extremely helpful, and always kind and friendly. I’ve traveled all over the world and lived in different places. Pacific Palisades is like no other place I’ve been to.”
